A vigorous weather system will move across the East. Scattered severe storms may produce damaging winds and large hail in the Mid-Atlantic, including the National Capital Region. Dangerous heat continues to build and spread across the southern states, and now stretches from the Southwest to the Lower Mississippi Valley. Critical fire weather threats are in place in the 4-Corners area. Impacted Lanes: I-95, I-90, I-20, I-49, I-55


Maine
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10:15 AM EDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. 

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.
     

Colorado
Flood Warning remains in effect until 3 PM MDT this afternoon

  • Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 5:15 PM MDT Wednesday afternoon

  • Small stream flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water may be over roadways.

California
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening

  • West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Difficult driving conditions, especially for larger vehicles traveling along roads with crosswinds. Light, unsecured objects may become airborne.

Summary:
The never-ending and dangerous heat wave in Texas will persist through the weekend into next week. Severe thunderstorms are likely across much of the High Plains the next day or two before moving into the Midwest over the weekend. Heavy rainfall may cause flooding in the northern Plains and Upper Midwest over the next couple of days. Impacted Lanes: I-95, I-94, I-90, I-29, I-270, I-71, I-75, I-97, I-40

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM MDT this evening

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:45 AM MDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Water over roadways. 

Florida
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over some roadways.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 9 PM EDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

North Carolina
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM EDT this morning

  • Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline resulting in a low threat of property damage. Expect up to one foot of water above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property will experience shallow flooding.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

Wyoming
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 AM MDT Saturday morning

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph possible.
  • Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong crosswinds may create increased blow off and blow over risks for light weight and high profile vehicles. Those towing camper trailers and light load semi trucks are particularly at risk.

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

Finally, a stubborn stationary system will produce pockets of heavy rain and thunderstorms which may lead to flooding in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states. Meanwhile, strong to severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall will be common the next few days in the Southeastern quadrant of the U.S. Gusty winds will impact parts of the West and aid in Critical fire weather conditions in the Southwest. Summary:
Severe thunderstorms and flash flooding threat continues across the southern Plains and Southeast over the next few days. The flood threat and severe weather also extends into parts of the central High Plains and Mid-Atlantic today. Potentially record-breaking heat expected throughout much of central and southern Texas this upcoming week; Excessive heat for most of Puerto Rico continues. I-95 in Philadelphia is closed for the foreseeable future due to collapse from vehicle fire. Impacted Lanes: I-95, I-84, I-80, I-76, I-25, I-40, I-44, I-10,

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding.

Oregon
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT Tuesday evening

  • West to northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts 50 to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
