Summary:
Storm-weary Californians are facing another strong Atmospheric River Event and the Northeast is bracing for a powerful Nor'easter. Heavy rain may produce widespread considerable flood threats, mudslides, and debris flows on burn scars. Dangerous to impossible travel expected across the interior Northeast due to heavy snow. The storm will produce damaging winds and widespread coastal flooding. Impacted Lanes: I-84, I-88, I-87, I-90, I-81, I-89, I-93, I-91, I-95, I-380, I-80, I-76, I-77, I-271, I-71, I-74, I-70, I-69, I-5, I-680, I-580, I-15 


California
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM PDT this afternoon

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. 
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Minor flooding of creeks and streams.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM PDT Wednesday afternoon

  • Heavy snow expected. Additional snow accumulations up to 2 inches for lower elevation areas including around Susanville. 4 to 8 inches west of US-395 below 6000 feet, with 1 to 2 feet above 6000 feet. 
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible with snowfall rates 1 to 2 inches per hour at times. Heavy snow accumulations could cause tree damage and lead to power outages.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening

  • Southerly winds 20 to 40 mph with gusts 50 mph in the valleys. Gusts 55 to 70 mph immediate coastline and hills above 1000 feet.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected and roadways could be blocked by downed trees. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 PM PDT Wednesday evening

  • Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Nevada
Flood Warning remains in effect until 11 PM PDT Wednesday evening

  • Urban area and small stream flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT Wednesday evening

  • Snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches can be expected between 8000 and 9000 feet with up to 2 foot possible at the peaks. 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected between 7000 and 8000 feet. Winds will gust as high as 50 MPH.
  • Impacts: Travel in mountain roads may be difficult at times. Slick roads are likely where snow accumulates on roadways.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM PDT Wednesday morning

  • South winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Blowing and drifting of snow and dust leading to reduced visibility, strong crosswinds affecting driving conditions, along with a few power outages are possible.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT Tuesday evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall and snow melt is expected.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and poor drainage areas. Flooding may occur in mountain urban areas due to deep snow confining flow and restricting drainage. Runoff exceeding drainage capacity is expected to impact roads, agricultural areas, and poor drainage areas.

Maryland
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EDT this morning

  • Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: Expect up to one foot of water above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks and lawns near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding. 

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11:59 PM EDT this evening

  • Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 2 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • Snow and blowing snow. Additional snow accumulations of up to 4 inches, with the highest totals on west facing slopes. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PDT this morning

  • Visibilities of 1/4 mile or less in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

Summary:
Two storms are expected to impact both the West and the East Coasts simultaneously over the next couple of days beginning late Monday. Another atmospheric river will bring a moderate risk of flash flooding and heavy mountain snow over parts of California. A nor'easter will produce heavy wet snow inland, high winds with rain/snow near the coast, and coastal flooding. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-86, I-390, I-81, I-5, I-84, I-86, I-15, I-80, I-43, I-69, I-75, I-271, I-77, I-76, I-87, I-91

Montana
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 12 PM MDT Tuesday afternoon

  • South winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected.
  • Impacts: High winds may move loose debris, damage property and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Reduced visibility due to blowing snow and partial lane blockages is also possible.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM MDT Tuesday morning

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. A period of heavy snow with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hours is expected between 2am and 6am, bringing low visibility.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM MDT Tuesday afternoon

  • Southwest winds gusting up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Strong crosswinds will make travel difficult along Interstate 90 from Livingston to near Big Timber and roads along the Beartooth Foothills.

New York 
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM EDT Tuesday morning

  • Up to 1 1/2 feet of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Expect up to 1 1/2 feet of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas with the late tonight/early tomorrow AM high tide. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding. 

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 8 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • Heavy, wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 10 to 15 inches.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The weight of the heavy wet snow on tree branches will likely result in power outages. Snowfall rates in excess of 1 inch per hour are possible.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 8 AM EDT Wednesday morning

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph Tuesday.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Patchy blowing dust could impact travel and may make it difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

  • South winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph.

  • Heavy snow with periods of heavy rain expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 5 inches below 5500 feet, and up to 10 inches elsewhere, except 8 to 20 inches west of Highway 395. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Very strong winds combined with heavy snow accumulations could cause tree damage and lead to power outages.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 5 AM MST Saturday morning

  • South winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 70 mph and a mix of rain and snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches with locally higher totals in the mountains.
  • Impacts: Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Unsecured outdoor objects will be blown around. Blowing and drifting snow will also be possible.

The west coast remains unsettled with occasional rain and higher elevation snow will accumulate; the threat for flooding may increase late this week for portions of California.   • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Snowfall rates have a high chance of at least 60% to exceed 1 inch an hour late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning around the Mt. Shasta City area.

A potent winter storm will produce a swath of heavy snow from the Upper Midwest through New England Friday and Saturday. Significant sleet and freezing rain is possible just south of the heaviest snow. Further south severe thunderstorms may bring damaging winds and tornadoes over the Southeast U.S. and heavy rain may produce flooding in the Ohio Valley. High winds likely in the Tennessee Valley. New York
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST Saturday evening

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 15 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult due to snow covered roadways and reduced visibility.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM EST Saturday evening

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 9 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult due to snow covered roadways and reduced visibility.

Delaware  
Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM EST Saturday morning

  • Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: At this level, flooding begins on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, and along inland tidal waterways. Some partial or full road closures are possible. 

West Virginia 
Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM EST Saturday morning

  • Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 AM EST Saturday morning

  • West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until 11 PM EST this evening

  • Significant icing expected. Ice accumulation from freezing rain around two to four tenths of an inch. Total snow and sleet accumulation accumulations of up to one inch. East to southeast wind gusts around 40 to 50 mph are expected.
  • Impacts: Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice and strong winds. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes.

Arkansas
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:15 AM CST this morning

  • Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening

  • Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening

  • Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 8:30 AM CST this morning

  • Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. 
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas, as well as some roadways.

Widespread precipitation, high winds, blizzard conditions, and record cold high temperatures will continue to impact California as the winter storm moves into the Southwest. Heavy snow also possible in the Upper Midwest from a clipper system. Heavy snow and areas of blizzard conditions expected across southern and interior Alaska. Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain possible in the Mid-South. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-8, I-10, I-15, I-17, I-29, I-35, I-40, I-70, I-80, I-84, I-90, I-94, I-215


California 
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 PM PST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Snow total of 10 to 20 inches with local amounts to 30 inches, highest in the eastern San Gabriel mountains. Southwest to west winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts between 50 mph and 60 mph through this morning shifting to the west to northwest 15 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible due to reduced visibility due to snow and blowing snow. Mountain roads, including higher portions of Interstate 5 will likely be impacted at times. The weight of recent snow combined with strong winds may down trees and powerlines.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM PST this afternoon

  • Light to moderate snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches, mainly above 2000 feet elevation. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Light snow is possible on Highways 46 through the Santa Lucia Mountains and interior San Luis Obispo County, Highway 101 over Cuesta Pass, Highway 166 in the Cuyama Valley, as well as Highway 154 through San Marcos Pass.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM PST this evening

  • West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

  • West winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts to 70 mph.
  • Impacts: Strong winds could damage trees and other objects. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

  • Blizzard conditions. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 feet. Winds gusting as high as 75 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute. Slippery roads are likely.

Louisiana

  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Areas of blowing dust will reduce visibility at times.

Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 4 AM PST Wednesday morning

  • Heavy snow and strong winds. Blizzard conditions continue through tonight. Additional total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 feet. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel will be extremely dangerous to impossible with extended road closures likely. Blowing snow will cause white-out conditions at times. Downed trees and tree limbs with power outages are possible due to heavy snow and gusty winds.

  • Flooding caused by snowmelt continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways.
