The constant atmospheric river weather pattern will persist on Friday through the weekend, especially in saturated California. Heavy to excessive rain is expected in northern and central California, southwestern Oregon and northwestern Washington on Friday, while heavy mountain snow will likely start in the Sierra. Meanwhile, some wintry weather is possible in parts of the East on Friday. Impacted Lanes: I-5, I-80, I-84, I-82, I-90, I-65, I-71, I-77, I-86, I-99, I-81, I-88, I-87, I-95


California
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 PM PST Monday evening

  • Heavy snow possible beginning early this afternoon. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 feet possible. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 9 AM PST this morning

  • Flooding continues due to ongoing impacts.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Several structures are flooded and some sand bagging operations are continuing. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM PST Saturday evening

  • South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts 35 to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. 

Flood Watch remains in effect until Sunday morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 12 PM PST this afternoon

  • Southeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts 65 to 70 mph.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM PST this afternoon

  • South winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Driving may become difficult, especially in high profile vehicles.

  • Minor coastal flooding expected.

  • Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is expected.

  • Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches.

The steady moist onshore flow and atmospheric river regime into the West Coast will continue on Thursday, especially in portions of saturated California. Heavy to excessive rainfall is expected from northern California to coastal areas of Oregon and Washington. Meanwhile, an intensifying storm system may produce isolated to scattered severe thunderstorms across parts of the South on Thursday. Maine
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST Friday evening

  • Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations between 7 and 14 inches, with higher amounts to the north and west. Sleet accumulations between one tenth and two tenths of an inch and ice accumulations up to two tenths of an inch.
  • Impacts: The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.

Summary:
The endless stream of atmospheric river events will re-focus on Wednesday across northern California. Once again, heavy to excessive rain on already saturated ground may produce more flooding. Also, snow will remain in the forecast for the northern California mountains and parts of the Sierra. Meanwhile, strong to severe storms are possible the next couple of days in the South and Mid South. Impacted Lanes: I-10, I-280, I-5, I-80, I-90, I-84, I-86, I-15, I-25, I-76, I-70, I-29, I-35 


California
Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: At 17.0 feet, Significant flooding of Highway 175 at the approaches to the Russian River bridge. Minor flooding of Highway 222 near Ukiah, and in crop land along the left and right banks of the Russian River near Hopland. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 AM PST Thursday morning

  • Snow. Additional snowfall accumulation of 4 to 8 inches above 6000 feet with local accumulations up to a foot over the higher peaks. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel will be very difficult. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 PM PST this afternoon

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 18 inches above 4000 feet, locally up to 30 inches over the higher peaks. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Strong winds could cause tree damage. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility resulting in periods of near whiteout conditions.

Flood Warning remains in effect until late tonight

  • Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.

  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are likely. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. Continued rises on mainstem rivers will lead to several river forecast points rising above flood stage, especially along the Cosumnes, Mokelumne, and Tuolumne Rivers. Flash flooding of the Yolo Bypass will occur late Monday morning following the Sacramento Weir opening. Water levels in the Yolo Bypass from West Sacramento south will rise rapidly.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 AM MST Tuesday morning

  • Snow expected with areas of blowing and drifting snow. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches. Up to 1 foot possible on upper slopes and ridges. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Tennessee
Freezing Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CST this morning

  • Patchy visibilities of one quarter to one half mile in freezing fog, especially near bodies of water.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility and potential frost on bridges.

  • Visibility one quarter mile of less in dense fog.

Periods of rain and a few severe thunderstorms will move across the southeast and eastern seaboard through Wednesday. For areas of the Great Lakes and interior New England, snow and ice will accumulate and affect travel. Another Pacific storm approaches with heavy rain, potential for flash flooding, heavy snow for the mountains and strong winds through Thursday. Impacted Lanes: I-20, I-85, I-75, I-16, I-40, I-77, I-71, I-5, I-80, I-90, I-94, I-35, I-29,


Minnesota
Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening

  • Heavy snow. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this evening

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

California
Winter Strom Warning remains in effect until 10 PM PST this evening

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to 4 inches above 3500 feet with 2 to 3 feet over the peaks. Winds gusting as high as 70 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Strong winds could cause extensive tree damage.

High Wind Warning remains in effect until 4 PM PST Thursday afternoon

  • Southeast winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts of 60 to 70 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Flood Warning remains in effect until early Friday morning

  • Minor flooding is forecast.
  • Impacts: At 18.0 feet, Flooding of Highway 222 near Ukiah. Secondary roads in low-lying areas will be flooded in the Hopland, Ukiah, and Talmage areas.

Flash Flood Advisory remains in effect until Thursday morning

  • Flash flooding and debris flows caused by excessive rainfall continue to be possible.
  • Impacts: Heavy rainfall could trigger flash flooding of low-lying areas, urbanized street flooding, and debris flows. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 AM PST Thursday morning

  • Southeast to south winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected. Wind prone areas may see gusts as high as 65 mph.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel may be dangerous for high profile vehicles.

Georgia
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1:45 PM EST this afternoon

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Minor flooding is occurring.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from rainfall.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM EST this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring.

Summary:
A significant winter storm will shift from the central Plains to the Upper Midwest Tuesday and Wednesday before weakening over the Great Lakes on Thursday. The storm will bring areas of heavy snow, ice, severe thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall. Starting Wednesday into next week, additional Pacific storms may impact the West with heavy snow and rain that could lead to additional flooding threats. Impacted Lanes: I-80, I-29, I-90, I-35, I-84, I-40, I-17, I-94, I-65, I-74, I-71, I-76


Wyoming
High Wind Warning remains in effect until 5 AM MST Thursday morning

  • West winds 35 to 50 MPH with gusts up to 70 MPH expected.
  • Impacts: Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight and high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 5 AM MST Thursday morning

  • Blowing snow likely with ground blizzard conditions possible. Wind gusts up to 70 MPH. Expect frequent visibility reductions to one half mile or less.
  • Impacts: Dangerous travel conditions. Blowing snow may result in significantly reduced visibilities and localized whiteout conditions at times. Moderate drifting may yield icy and possibly snow covered roadways.

Nebraska 
Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until 12 PM CST this afternoon

  • Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of a light glaze.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 12 PM CST this afternoon

  • Light snow and light freezing drizzle. Additional snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of a light glaze. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on extremely hazardous road conditions. Increasing winds after sunrise will cause tree and power line damage due to accumulated ice and snow. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute.

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 12 PM CST this afternoon

  • Snow and patchy freezing drizzle. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches, on top of at least a light glaze of ice. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Plan on hazardous travel conditions that will impact the morning commute. Increasing northwest wind gusts may cause tree and power line damage due to accumulated ice and snow.

North Dakota

Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until Wednesday morning

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM MST this evening

  • West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Travel may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Summary:
A cold front crossing the eastern half of the U.S. may continue to produce heavy to excessive rainfall and isolated severe thunderstorms from the lower Mississippi River Valley into the Southeast Friday. Additional waves of Pacific moisture will batter the western U.S. into this weekend. A powerful storm system appears likely to affect portions of the central and southern U.S. starting Monday. Impacted Lanes: I-90, I-84, I-15, I-5, I-80


Washington
Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM PST this afternoon

  • Snow. Additional snow accumulations of up to 5 inches.
  • Impacts: Plan on slippery road conditions.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM PST this afternoon

  • Minor coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Nevada

Winter Strom Warning remains in effect until 4 PM PST Sunday afternoon

  • Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 12 inches, except 1 to 2 feet above 7000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
  • Impacts: Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage and lead to power outages. 

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM PST Saturday evening 

  • Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts in excess of 50 mph. Gusts in excess of 60 mph will be possible in the higher terrain of the eastern Sierra slopes.
  •  Impacts: Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM PST Saturday evening 

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall and snowmelt is possible.
  •  Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

New Mexico
High Wind Warning remains in effect until Saturday afternoon

  • West and northwest winds 25 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph possible.
  • Impacts: Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
