Summary:
Debby will slowly track across the Southeast the next several days. Tornadoes, catastrophic flash and urban flooding, coastal flooding, rip currents, strong gusty winds are all expected. Meanwhile, a frontal zone across the Plains, Great Lakes into the Northeast will focus strong to severe thunderstorms and with the potential of excessive rainfall leading to flooding. For the West, heat continues. Impacted Lanes: I-4, I-95, I-75, I-275, I-10, I-295, I-16, I-494, I-694, I-35


Florida
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 12:45 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 1:15 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

Hurricane Warning remains in effect until further notice

  • Wind: 50-65 mph with gusts to 85 mph
  • Impacts: Life-threatening wind of equivalent CAT 1 or 2 hurricane force. Travel is not recommended and dangerous. 
  • Flooding Rain:  4-8 inches, with locally higher amounts
  • Impacts: Extreme rainfall flooding may prompt numerous evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may overwhelmingly overflow their banks in many places with deep moving water. Small streams, creeks, and ditches may become raging rivers. Flood control systems and barriers may become stressed. Flood waters can enter numerous structures within multiple communities, some structures becoming uninhabitable or washed away. Numerous places where flood waters may cover escape routes. Streets and parking lots become rivers of raging water with underpasses submerged. Driving conditions become very dangerous. Numerous road and bridge closures with some weakened or washed out.
  • Tornado: Strong tornados may emerge from the weather situation. 
  • Impacts: Several places may experience tornado damage with a few spots of considerable damage, power loss, and communications failures. Travel is not recommended and dangerous. 
  • Storm Surge: Life-threatening storm surge possible. 
  • Impacts: Peak Storm Surge Inundation: The potential for 7-10 feet above ground somewhere within surge prone areas. Flooding is expected in storm surge areas and travel is not recommended and dangerous. 

Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM EDT this evening

  • South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts near 40 mph expected.
  • Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 11 PM EDT Tuesday evening

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 5 PM EDT this evening

  • Minor coastal flooding.
  • Impacts: Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected.

Summary:
Scattered strong to occasionally severe storms will bring the risk of gusty winds and flash flooding from the Ohio/Tennessee Valley into the Mid-Atlantic. Dangerous heat will spread across the Lower Mississippi Valley, Gulf Coast, and Mid-Atlantic. Another heatwave is building across the Northwest and Northern High Plains through Saturday where several daily record high temperatures are forecast.   • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

  • Visibility below 3 miles at times
  • Impacts: Smoke may lower visibility to near 1/2 mile and impact travel across western Lassen County.

Summary:
Showers and thunderstorms over the Northern Plains, Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley, and Ohio Valley will produce heavy rain and localized areas of flash flooding. There is a risk of severe thunderstorms over the Middle Mississippi Valley. Heavy rain is also expected in northern New England and southern Arizona. Multiple days of excessive heat are forecast from the Central U.S. to the Southeast. Impacted Lanes: I-29, I-80, I-74, I-88, I-39, I-55, I-72, I-87, I-89, I-93, I-91


Iowa
Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 10:45 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
  • Impacts: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 10 AM CDT this morning

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Water over roadways is possible.

North Carolina
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM EDT this evening

  • Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
  • Impacts: The lowest portions of USS North Carolina Road and Battleship Road begin to observe minor coastal flooding. Water begins to spread out of storm drains onto Water Street just south of Market Street in downtown Wilmington.

Flood Watch remains in effect until 5 AM EDT Thursday morning

  • Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
  • Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, roadways, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

South Dakota
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility less than one half mile in dense fog.
  • Impacts: Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Arizona 
Blowing Dust Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM MST this evening

  • Visibility between one-quarter and one mile in blowing dust expected, with wind gusts in excess of 40 mph.
  • Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility.

  • Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.
  • Impacts: This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEK HIGHER GROUND NOW! Life threatening flash flooding of low water crossings, small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Flood Warning remains in effect until 1 PM EDT this afternoon

  • Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
  • Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

Michigan
Flood Advisory remains in effect until 10:45 AM EDT this morning

  • Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
  • Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. 

Illinois
Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM CDT this morning

  • Visibility one-quarter of a mile or less in dense fog.
